Wii Bowling Ball Review

Wii Bowling Ball
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It appears that the marketing & research department at CTA concluded that only right handed people enjoy wii bowling because this accessory was clearly not designed for left handed people. For lefties, the B button needs to be used with either your ring finger or pinky which is highly uncomfortable and frustrating to use. If you're left handed, either learn how to bowl right handed or skip this product.

This is a beautiful wooden toy set. I love that they made in the USA. My kids are going to really enjoy playing with them. They are the perfect size for my young children.

Whether summer or winter, rain or shine, outdoors or indoors, there is no stopping a bowling game. It is a game for all people, big or small. It can be played as ninepin or skittles tabletop or alley - cannonball or West Country. Americans put a spin on the game by adding a tenth pin and playing tenpin or long alley bowling. Made of wood pieces. Each set contains nine plain pins, one twin-striped headpin, two balls, a cloth bag, and a link to instructions for many different games from ancient to modern. The hardwood bowling balls are choking-safe if little ones are around. The set is unfinished natural wood allowing children to paint or stain the pins for personalization. They can also be left unfinished and will withstand rigorous play. Skittles in a bag, featuring 5" inch pins, is perfect for those toddling toddlers learning about balance and accuracy. We are positive that the craftsmanship and durability will greatly impress you and your little one.

This set includes Polar Golfer, Polar Bowler, Polar Tubing, and Penguins! My son did not like Polar Golfer. One full game (18 Holes) takes about 30 Minutes, and is VERY boring. My son was watching me play and got bored after the first 5 holes. The other Three Games are pretty nice, and are fun. And, you also have to install each game indivually, which takes up some time. Bought this for the whole family, including 2 kids of 11 and 8. We travel alot, so this is easy to carry and bring on trips. We have played it in the airport, in the hotel rooms, in the house, at my office, in the doctor's/dentist's waiting rooms. It is great for keeping the kids entertained. It is a small set and ideal for any space. Balls are durable and made from an attractive metal material. My kids have been asking me to buy this as gifts for their friends on birthdays

Wii Sports Resort Review

Wii Sports Resort
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently purchased Wii Sports Resort along with the included Wii Motion Plus, and it has been an excellent game so far. Included are 12 games, 10 of which are new and two of which are updates to the classic Wii Sports games- golf and bowling.
Starting with the updates, I feel that Wii Motion Plus adds a lot to the gameplay for the golf game. More sensitive controls make it far more challenging endeavor, adding somewhat to the realism of the game. Also, I find that it is a lot more enjoyable to swing the club in this game than it was in the original. In bowling, it is much easier to add a spin to the ball. Of the additions, I would say that archery and swordplay are standouts, and I wouldn't be surprised if they make it into other Nintendo releases (i.e. Zelda). The game captures the illusion of actually playing with swords or a bow-and-arrow really well. I also really enjoyed most of the water sports, especially power cruising, which reminded me of Wave Race. Some of the sports, on the other hand, are less satisfying, such as cycling, since pedaling with your arms does not feel natural.
The Wii has seen a lot of "waggle-fests" released, and the nice thing about including Wii Motion Plus is that it really improves the motion-sensing fidelity of the Wiimote. I hope more games use this accessory in the future. For some of the multiplayer events, you may need to purchase additional copies of Wii Motion Plus (or get it bundled with another game), while others simply allow you to pass one Wii remote around. The graphics of the game are simple and colorful, and the game features nice water effects.
However, here are a few aspects of the game that I wish were better. Although this game has more depth than the original Wii Sports, with more games, multiple game play modes, and achievements, I still wish that there was some additional depth to some of the games (i.e. more courses, objectives, etc.), especially considering how enjoyable some of the activities are. Some people found that the original Wii Sports did not have sufficient depth, and those individuals may be disappointed. Also, it would have been nice to have online play for this game, since the game really seems to shine in multiplayer, and it is not always easy to find others to play.
Overall, I think that most people who enjoyed Wii Sports will similarly enjoy Wii Sports Resort.

Wii Sports Resort is an immersive, expansive active-play game that includes a dozen fun resort-themed activities. It maintains the wide-ranging appeal that attracted millions to the original Wii Sports. Wii Sports Resort is easy to pick up and play, but comes coupled with deeper levels of play that are sure to challenge even the most experienced gamers. Wii Sports Resort whisks players away to a resort that's full of action, while introducing an unprecedented experience in physical reality. Wii Sports Resort comes bundled with a Wii MotionPlus accessory to provide players the most realistic, immersive experience possible – the slightest tilt, turn and twist of the Wii Remote controller is recognized. From the moment players skydive onto Wuhu Island, they're presented with a huge selection of fun activities that everyone can play.

Tropix Review

Average Reviews:

I'm a big fan of "puzzle" games, and unfortunately am frequently
disappointed, but this one was a pleasant surprise. You start off with
just a few of the eleven games available, and have to unlock the rest,
all the while earning enough to keep a cute monkey happy with food, toys
and creature comforts. The monkey is surprisingly engaging, and it is
amusing to watch him interact with what you have provided. The games are
simple, but a few of them are quite addictive. I especially enjoy the
word game, the bowling and the solitaire. There is also a fruit matching
game which gets quite frenetic, a somewhat lame version of Mahjong, a smooth playing version of Sudoku, a charming shell game, and four others
that feature stronger arcade elements (not my cup of tea, so I don't play
them as much). Overall, a nice varied title that is a good one to keep
handy for frequent short sessions of casual play.

Boom Blox Review

Boom Blox
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Boom Blox is the perfect example of what a good Wii game should be. It is innovative, intuitive, and most of all, fun. Gamers and non-gamers alike will be able to pick this game up and start playing within seconds.
First off, I'll get the bad news out of the way. Graphically this game isn't going to wow anyone. The graphics are adequate and never go beyond that. The sound and music is instantly forgettable. The characters are saccharine cute, uninspired and half of them make weird grunting noises like a puppy with a bad case of painful gas. Hardcore gamers will likely dismiss this game as a throw-away cutsie/kiddie title. I wouldn't blame them, but that would be their loss. On a side note, if you're a fan of Happy Tree Friends, the characters bear a striking resemblance... except they are block-shaped.
The good news is that just about everything else in this game is very well designed and fun. To truly grasp how the gameplay works you have to see it in action, but I'll try to describe it as best I can. The premise of this physics-based puzzle game is that each level will have a challenge, such as destroy every gem block or carefully unstack a pile of rectangular blocks much like you would as if you were playing Jenga. Some levels will have you throwing tennis balls, bombs, or bowling balls at to interact with the level while others may have you spraying fire hoses and blasting things with lasers. Some levels encourage you to operate with delicate precision and others encourage reckless, destructive behavior. Overall, the game has a good balance. The gameplay is varied and the use of the Wii controls is very impressive (with one minor exception being the light-gun style mini-games which are very rare). This game really could have been terrible. Too many developers would have slapped some half-baked control scheme onto this game and called it good, but this is one of those rare games where the developer obviously put a lot of thought into the control.
I haven't played multi-player very much, but what I've played is very fun and enjoyable. Single player is addictive, so much so that I was late to a dinner meeting because my friends kept urging me to check out the next level. Most of the levels are clever and leave the player with a great sense of accomplishment when completed. After every five or six levels a new feature or function is opened up, which keeps the gameplay from getting stale. From what I can tell there are hundreds of levels built into the game PLUS the game includes a full featured level editor allows you to modify existing levels and create your own in addition to being able to share your creations with others on the internet.

BOOM BLOX’s visceral gameplay is perfectly suited for the Wii’s interactivity. The action gets going fast and the fun never ends as you throw baseballs, blast lasers, save wacky animal characters, explore cool worlds and more!

AMF Bowling Pinbusters Review

AMF Bowling Pinbusters
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received the game today and my first impression is not favorable. To start, there is no choice between left- and right handed playing, even Wii bowling had that basic feature. The ball physics appear to be odd - it is like the ball is changing speed/angle in the middle of the lane.
The sound effects are off as well: when you hit the pins it sounds like you just hit some dixie cups. My recommendation is to rent it before you buy.
***UPDATE***
After playing it for a longer period of time, the game is more fun than it seemed at the first glance. It is still beyond me why there is no option to adjust gameplay and animation for left handed players but
the game itself is pretty enjoyable after you get the hang of it.
It is also odd that Pinbusters does not save high scores or sound preferences.
I'll give it four stars, with wii bowling still being my favorite.

Penny Racers Party: Turbo-Q Speedway Review

Penny Racers Party: Turbo-Q Speedway
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this game for my little brother (he is 7 and an avid Mario Kart player). This game has several strong points going for it: great pick up and play game play with the Wii wheel for all ages (he is 7, I am 22 and it presents challenges to the both of us), also there are many, many cars from such as real models (NSX, Skyline, Lancer Evo, etc) to comical fake models such as a bowl of ramen noodles and monster trucks. Also the ability to customize and tune your car is a wonderful addition when compared to the static karts in Mario Kart. You can unlock something with a first place in most every race so right from the get go, the game gives you motivation to keep playing.
The game lacks in a few areas when compared to Mario Kart however. The weapons are not as fun or as diverse as in MK. Also, the graphics are a bit rougher but not by too much. Lastly, the track selection is not nearly as vast as in Mario Kart, but I have not unlocked all of them so that could change in the days to come. Still, most races take place on a few tracks, but are just run on different circuits or in different directions to keep things interesting/challenging.
All points aside, Penny Racers is a great game and when used with the Wii Wheel it makes for an enjoyable experience for all ages.
