(More customer reviews)I bought my Wii in large part for the Wii sports bowling game actually so I thought this would be a great purchase. I have to say that I do kinda regret the purchase. If I could do it again I would just buy the ball and skip the game.
The Good:
-Its a great novelty and it always gets a laugh from my friends when I pull the ball out
-It does make the game a bit more realistic
The Bad:
-The game is not like the Wii sports bowling at all. The viewpoint is slightly different and harder for me to get used to. You don't play with Miis or have any way to save a personalized toon. You only pick from the game's characters.
-Me and my friends don't have big hands at all but we can't use the finger inserts. If you have large hands the finger holes and spacing may be hard to deal with.

Ten Pin Alley Review

(More customer reviews)When I sold my PS1, ten pin alley was one of the few games I saved. My only regret is that you can't save your games (PS1 games)on the PS2 memory card.
This was a really great game. As other have mentioned, it was very realistic (even the sound effects were realistic). The characters were kinda funny, and there was an option to change the color of their skin, hair, clothes. The tournaments were alot of fun too. They even have the wierd retro bowling option for those who like glow in the dark, friday night bowling. This isn't just one of the best bowling games ever, it's also one of the best PS1 games. It's also a great game to play with friends
It's a shame that ASC went out of buisness in 2000. I wish somebody would buy the license to this game and publish a sequel on the PS2 and X-box

(More customer reviews)This is one of the worst games I have played in many years. I can't decide if my 1-word review of this game should be "horrible" or "abysmal".
Graphics are so lame I'd swear they were developed by some high school kid in computer class. Animation is choppy even at its best moments and laughably jerky at other times. You will laugh your head off when you see how the pins fall over - completely hokie and unrealistic. Whatever physics engine this game is using is either severely flawed or implemented incorrectly by the game's programmers. The controls (buttons) are the same as Wii Sports bowling, but far less responsive to the player's swinging motions and wrist input. Music/voices/sound are unprofessional, agonizingly repetitive and all recorded at different sound levels that don't mix well together.
The player is further hampered/frustrated by constantly and repeatedly having to press the A button multiple times just to throw your next ball (even more so than Wii Sports Bowling).
An absolutely amateur attempt to make a console game. Looks like another hunk of Wii "shovel ware" that's been dumped into the Wii marketplace of late. When will this pollution stop? Someone at AMF should have play tested this game before agreeing to have their name associated with it
Even if you find it in a "bargain bin" for [...] don't waste your dollar.
If you are one of those strange people who like to collect "the worst games ever released" then you might want to check it out because I think it might make some people's "worst 10" list. Everyone else should avoid it.

(More customer reviews)I received the game today and my first impression is not favorable. To start, there is no choice between left- and right handed playing, even Wii bowling had that basic feature. The ball physics appear to be odd - it is like the ball is changing speed/angle in the middle of the lane.
The sound effects are off as well: when you hit the pins it sounds like you just hit some dixie cups. My recommendation is to rent it before you buy.
***UPDATE***
After playing it for a longer period of time, the game is more fun than it seemed at the first glance. It is still beyond me why there is no option to adjust gameplay and animation for left handed players but
the game itself is pretty enjoyable after you get the hang of it.
It is also odd that Pinbusters does not save high scores or sound preferences.
I'll give it four stars, with wii bowling still being my favorite.

You cycle through a series of bowlers to select one to represent you, or you can customize a unique character. Then you pick a mode to start bowling. I strongly suggest starting out in the practice mode, in which your character bowls alone, before you advance to the arcade mode to play against an opponent. Eventually you'll play well enough to advance to the career mode and compete in tournaments. Gameplay is controlled entirely by the mouse. You point and click to aim the ball, set your bowler's feet, and determine how much spin to put on the ball. Then you click the left mouse button to determine the speed and accuracy of the ball. The details of the bowling alleys, the animations of the bowlers, the realistic action and sound effects are all outstanding.
