Custer Legends is a book any student of history who happens to be addicted to subject of Gen. G.A. Custer will NEED to have in his/her library. Written by the late Dr. Frost, who was the preeminant Custer historian of our time, it is a excellent reference tool when another of those "legends" pop up in articles and modern books. Did Custer really send a $10,000 bill to his church for a 20 mile train ride? The "Let's have a fair fight" incident at West Point is detailed. Did Rain in the Face really carry out his threat against Tom Custer? Was there a white survivor of the Little Big Horn battle? All these questions and much more are chronicled and discussed in a thorough and scholarly manner. I cannot reccomend this book highly enough.

George Armstrong Custer rode at the head of his cavalry command where he made instantaneous decisions, most of which resulted in victory during the Civil War. The older officers over whom he had jumped in rank soon displayed their animosity. From them, and many others, a series of charges against him were circulated; from these grew the innumerable Custer legends. This volume includes many interesting and unusual Custer legends, which include the alleged fathering of Monahseetah\'s Indian son; the Annie Jones story buried in the National Archives; Custer\'s capture of Lee\'s supply trains at Appomattox Court House that caused Lee to surrender—and much more.
