This is a terrific book for the beginning candlemaker. The author gives a great introduction to candlemaking with nice explanations on materials needed, basic techniques, types of candles, etc. Also, the information is easy to understand. Great for someone getting started. The ideas in the book are new and refreshing. Each project has easy to follow directions and wonderful full-color pictures to help you along. My husband has been making candles since the late 60's and he loved the book. We checked it out of our local library and now we are definitely going to purchase this book!

This is the perfect reference book for Phys. Ed. teachers who are looking for new and creative activities for their elementary students. The games fit perfectly into our cross curricular multicultural month and the price was right.

You can find many books that build the motor skills that kids need to succeed in a variety of physical activities and sports. But not many books open kids\' eyes to the cultures and traditions of other countries, giving them a greater appreciation for and understanding of the world around them at the same time.

International Games: Building Skills Through Multicultural Play features 65 games from 32 countries. The games build players\' physical skills while increasing their cultural awareness, so they focus on the similarities between people no matter where they come from.

The games make your teaching simple and effective. Most games require little in the way of equipment, and in many cases where equipment is needed, it can be made for a small cost. Each game

- is presented in an easy-to-use format;

- includes interesting information on the origin of the game; and

- is clearly illustrated, showing pertinent parts of the game.

International Games is great for physical education class or for an interdisciplinary multicultural unit taught in conjunction with other subjects, such as social studies or geography. To facilitate its use as an interdisciplinary tool, the book includes end-of-unit quizzes.

The book can be used in two ways: You can work progressively by skill or teach the games by region. Activities are arranged so that each activity builds on skills learned in the previous activity. The book includes a game finder so you can easily find the game you want whether you teach by skill or by region.

However you choose to use the games in this book, International Games provides a wealth of ideas for teaching kids about the world while they build their motor skills.

I found this book to be very informative and very useful. Having been taught self hypnosis as part of a continuing education course, I found it to be a very well written and enlightening book. One week after getting the book and practicing the techniques, I bowled 9 pins over my average in league play.

Toys to Sew: Dozens of Patterns for Dolls, Animals, Doll Clothes, and Accessories Review

Toys to Sew: Dozens of Patterns for Dolls, Animals, Doll Clothes, and Accessories

I'd forgotten how much fun it is to work with felt. The patterns & instructions in this book are easy to follow and the results are great. I made the mouse skittles (the mice are the bowling pins and the ball is a cat) and my only warning is that you will find yourself making more and more mice, just because the group looks so good. My only quibble with the book is that I wasn't able to locate the pattern for the egg (meant to hold a baby dinosaur), but I shouldn't complain. Surely we can all figure out how to cut out an egg shape.
